Fall Fest: Something for everyone in West Branch

It may not feel like it yet but fall is in the air. Our historic Main Street district is embracing the change of season with autumn inspired decor, festive photo opportunities, a scarecrow contest and a special line-up of “Fall Fest” activities next weekend. Sidewalk Sales will take place Friday, October 8 and Saturday, October 9 from 11:00am - 5:00pm both days when our local businesses will spill onto the sidewalks with special promotions and extended hours to eat, shop and explore! West Branch is thriving with an eclectic mix of old and new businesses, our hometown pride can be shown through supporting the unique offerings available in our community whenever possible and especially as we continue through the pandemic recovery. Fall Fest is the perfect time to take a stroll through our historic Main Street and shop around for your new favorite fall outfit, decoration or treat. Don’t forget to support a local eatery and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner while you’re out!

Be sure to check out the homemade scarecrows throughout downtown and vote for your favorite one. These creations were made by community members and the contest will run through Halloween. Voting will be available starting October 8 here.

Fall Fest activities will continue after the shops close on Saturday with family events being coordinated at Cubby Park. Starting at 6:00pm children can participate in Pumpkin Chunkin’ where they will launch pumpkins using a giant slingshot and receive prizes for the biggest “splat” (while supplies last, feel free to bring your own pumpkin). Stick around and enjoy an outdoor movie that is sure to give you goosebumps starting at 7:00pm at Cubby Park! Both of these activities are free and coordinated by West Branch Parks and Recreation and the West Branch Public Library.

Looking further into the season, Trick or Treat on Main Street will be back this fall! Families are invited to come in costume and enjoy candy and prizes from our downtown businesses on Friday, October 29th between 3:00-6:00pm. Head on down to Main Street after the school’s costume parade to continue the fun! Hot dogs and chips will be available “to go”. Learn more about upcoming events and where to eat, shop and explore in West Branch at mainstreetwestbranch.org.
