VOLUNTEER + EARN YOUR COLORFUL CORD

Earn a “Colorful Cord” to be worn on your gown at your high school graduation, which indicates that you’ve dedicated at least 30 hours of volunteer service to Main Street West Branch during your high school career.

What counts?

Eligible “colorful cord” hours can be earned by assisting Main Street West Branch with downtown projects and events. Hours at the following activities starting in May 2023 will be counted.

  • Volunteer shifts at events including Hoover’s Hometown Days, Summer Kickoff, Fall Fest, Sweets for Success A Christmas Past and any others hosted by Main Street West Branch.

  • Volunteer work assisting the Main Street director with office tasks (based on your skills, interest and current office needs). Example include assembling "Welcome Kits" for new residents, adding email addresses to our newsletter list, prepping coupon books for distribution, distributing event posters/materials downtown, etc.

  • Seasonal downtown beautification projects like Street Sweeps, Watering Flowers, and holiday decorating.

  • Serving on a Main Street Committee of your choice (meet monthly via Zoom).

  • Serving on the Hoover's Hometown Days Youth Advisory Board.
