• Scarecrows must be family-friendly. No offensive, controversial, inappropriate, violent or political entries will be accepted.

• Scarecrows must be self-standing OR built on the PVC pipe which will be provided to you.  You can pick it up at the Rummells Center (127 W Main St) the last week of September.

• Your scarecrow must be weather-resistant and sturdy.  It will be displayed for a full month. We ask that you visit your scarecrows periodically to ensure it is holding up to the weather and make repairs as needed.

• You will be assigned a location to display your scarecrow (using the flag pole holes along the sidewalk). You must install your scarecrow between September 28 - October 1st (before Fall Fest). 

 

TIPS:

• A strong idea is key. Sometimes the best entries are the simplest, yet most recognizable.

• Craftsmanship can make or break the overall look of a project.

• Stuff your straw into pantyhose to keep it in one place! 

• Your scarecrows will have prolonged exposure to all kinds of weather. Make sure to seal porous materials, such as papier-mâché, with a water-repellent spray (3M or Scotchguard)

• Check out Pinterest for some inspiration!

• Share, share, share information about the contest to encourage friends/family to visit Main Street and VOTE during the month of October. This also helps support our local businesses!
