The First Bank

The community’s first bank -- in fact, the first bank in Cedar County -- opened in the one-story wooden building next to the Hoover House in 1875.

Just 2 years later, West Branch State Bank built and moved into a new two-story building across the street (on the northwest corner of Main and Downey Streets).
