Record Breaking "Sweets for Success"
Sweets for Success was a fantastic evening and we are happy to share that our community showed up to support WBCDG in a big way -- we raised a net total of $21,838 (nearly double what was raised last year)! We had a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers on the planning committee this year (see list below) and some generous event sponsors that helped us expand the event to a larger venue this year as well as add more food and entertainment for the guests to enjoy.
We were excited to have the opportunity to host Sweets for Success at Little Lights on the Lane since the event has outgrown the winery in previous years. Even with twice the capacity the tables SOLD OUT in advance of the event and we welcomed 215 guests. We were able to keep tables 6-feet apart to allow for social distancing, masks were required when not seated at the table and all the desserts were kept covered under cake domes or behind plexiglass. The LIVE auction featured 80 incredible desserts which were all donated by volunteer bakers or area bakeries. The cash bar exclusively served Brick Arch Winery wine and each table enjoyed a complimentary bottle of the local wine to start the evening. We enjoyed dueling pianos performance by Felix and Fingers during social hour, intermission and as the finale of the night after the auction (entertainment was sponsored by 223 Vintage Co & Borrow My Vintage). Overall it was a wonderful celebration of community and we are grateful for the generous showing of support.
Funds raised will support West Branch Community Development Group's mission to improve the social and economic well being of our community and the historic Main Street district by attracting and supporting small businesses, engaging and connecting the community, and preserving and sharing our unique history. Ultimately working to ensure that West Branch is a great place to Eat, Shop & Explore.
