MAY 2020 - West Branch Community Development Group has named Jessi Simon as the new part-time Executive Director. Simon has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and 10+ years of professional experience including community outreach, creative collaboration, fundraising, volunteer management, strategic planning, event coordination and marketing. She grew up in West Liberty, attended the University of Northern Iowa and has lived in West Branch for nearly 7 years. Jessi is the mother of two young daughters and a cheerleader for small businesses.

“I would describe myself as an advocate for balancing historic preservation with strategic growth and I’m passionate about helping our community thrive,” said Simon.

“Jessi brings an impressive background that aligns with WBCDG’s goals as a Main Street Iowa Community,” said Nicki Brick, Board President. “She greatly understands the value of relationship building and how we can best partner to provide the right services at the right time. Look for her out and about or pop in during office hours; we are so excited to have her join the team.”

Simon will replace Carolyn Andersen who stepped up to serve as the interim director after the sudden passing of Kevin Rogers in 2018. Andersen will continue to serve as a volunteer on the Board of Directors. West Branch Community Development Group received it’s accreditation as a Main Street Iowa community in 2006 and operates with a mission to improve the social and economic well being of our community & the historic downtown by preserving and sharing our history and unique identity, attracting and supporting small businesses and engaging and connecting the community. Main Street Iowa operates under the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IDEA) working with a select group of communities committed to exceptionally high standards for downtown economic development.

The WBCDG office is located within the West Branch Heritage Museum at 109 E. Main Street. Office hours will be 10am-2pm Wednesdays and Fridays or by appointment.
