MODIFIED EVENTS FOR COVID-19:
Holiday StoryWalk: We've teamed up with West Branch Public Library and WB Parks & Recreation to feature a festive StoryWalk™ (literally a children's book presented page by page in store windows throughout the Main Street district). This fun, flexible and educational activity will feature the book 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑈𝑝 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑚𝑎𝑠 by Karma Wilson. You'll start by finding page 1 outside US Bank and follow the prompts to enjoy the story as you all walk a loop through our historic Main Street district! It's a great time for parents to window shop and explore the holiday shopping options in our community, too! The entire loop is about 0.6 miles. Please follow CDC recommendations by wearing a mask and doing your best to practice social distancing. The StoryWalk™ will be in place the entire month of December so families can enjoy any time. Santa Claus Cruise: A reverse parade will take place Saturday December 5, 2020 from 9:00-11:00am to provide a socially distanced opportunity for children to see Santa and enjoy other festive holiday characters and activities from their cars. Families will drive a route to pick up free hot cocoa, craft kits, cookie kits, reindeer food from an elf, see the Grinch and end by telling Santa what you want for Christmas. Find all the details on the Facebook event page. Masks are required if you intend to roll down your window to engage at each stop along the route.
The following activities were not able to be modified to meet current state requirements for COVID-19 gatherings and have been cancelled for 2020. No Carriage rides, Gibson train display, silent auction, fried donuts, fire pits, soup supper, craft market or live nativity will take place in 2020.
Our committee had plans to bring in a 𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑰𝒄𝒆 𝑺𝒌𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒌 to be placed in the Main Street district and allow families or small groups to reserve times to enjoy the timeless activity at staggered times to enable social distancing and crowd control. This activity is now postponed until pandemic regulations allow for larger gatherings. This WILL be happening in West Branch when it is safe to do so.
The annual Tree Lighting is current postponed due to wet ground conditions and volunteers in required isolation. We intend to get the Village Green evergreen decorated and lit before Christmas! Stay tuned for updates.
